In line with our core values, we are driven
to innovate and improve our manufacturing processes with the aim of offering the best products and services for our customers. The KT01 gives our customers the opportunity to select an A-rated tyre which can significantly reduce fleet fuel costs. To put this into perspective, an article published by Transport Engineer highlights the savings offered by our A-Rated tyre. “Choosing the ‘A’ rated KT01 tyre over a standard tyre can significantly reduce fleet fuel costs. Spreading the potential fuel savings of 14.7% over a fleet of 100 vehicles each travelling 100,000km/year by £475,000 per annum, with a fuel price of £1/L”.
of the grooves being added to both sides of
the tyre, our team rose to the challenge and introduced new 5-rib PROTEKT+ dual sidewall protection system. An innovation first of its kind, the new and improved tyre provides the best defence against kerbing damage. With the simple flip of a tyre, this innovative solution expands the lifecycle of the tyre, making
it more resistant to kerbside damage. The addition of the ribbing also allows for heat to dissipate more effectively, again extending the durability and longevity of the tyre. This is yet another example of #SustainableThinking in action at Vaculug.
CASE STUDY:
PROTEKT PLUS INCREASES LONGEVITY AND PERFORMANCE OF TRUCK TYRES
In April 2021, our manufacturing team
at Vaculug reinvented the retreaded tyre
– improving its performance and making
it more sustainable. By applying our innovative approach and mindset to our manufacturing processes, our team of experts experimented with what is usually common in the industry, which is the application of grooves to the sidewall of a tyre to protect it from kerbside wear and tear, a practice that – until this point, was done on one side only.
Inspired by a challenge from Vaculug’s Chairman, which was to explore the feasibility
A LOOK AHEAD - DRIVEN BY INNOVATION
To become leaders in sustainability, we will be focusing on new and improved technology that will be more sustainable for our business, and for our surrounding community.
We are also committed to exploring how to responsibly change compounds for EV tyres, which have different requirements and needs (e.g., similar to Hankook tyres developed for Tesla).
Working in collaboration with our rubber suppliers, we will aim to explore new and improved compounds that are more sustainable, and that perform better in terms of noise level and grip.
We will also continue to invest in the maintenance and upkeep of our manufacturing equipment, with aim of making it sustainable for long-term use.
OUR COMMITMENTS FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS:
• We will keep investing in R&D and innovation projects with a focus on improving materials, products and processes.
• We will activate new partnerships with suppliers and research institutions with the goal of enhancing our innovation capabilities.
